How do you solve this if you are solving for y

y=3xy-1

    Move all y terms to both sides

    subtract both sides by 3xy

    y=3xy-1

    y - 3xy = - 1

    factor out y from the left side: y (1 - 3x) = - 1

    divide both sides by (1-3x)

    y = - 1 / (1-3x)
