    8 x 6 is 48

to make it smaller, try dividing 48 by 2. if it is a multiple if the two, it is the least common denominator.

    48 divided by 2 is 24

    8 x 3 is 24

    6 x 4 is 24

we could try dividing again, but 12 is not a multiple of 8

24 is the least common denominator
