    12=Red

    8=blue or yellow

    Blue is b

    Yellow is y

    What two numbers add up to 8 but the difference is 2.

    5 and 3!

    He would have 3 yellow crayons

    Y-2=b

    20 - 12 = 8

    He has 8 blue and yellow crayons altogether.

    Yellow = x

    Blue = 2 + x

    2 + x + x = 8

    2 + 2x = 8

    Subtract 2 to both sides

    2x = 6

    Divide 2 to both sides

    x = 3.

    He has 3 yellow crayons.
