To get to the party, Pat walked 1/6 of an hour to the bus stop. After waiting 1/12 of an hour, the bus arrived. Pat spent 2/3 of an hour on the bus. What fraction of an hour did Pat spend getting to the party? Explain how you got your answer.

    So, to get the answer, you add everything together. To do that, find the common denominator. The common denominator is 12, so make every fraction have a denominator of twelve. 1/6=2/12, 1/12=1/12, 2/3=8/12. Now, add all the fractions together. 2/12+1/12+8/12=11/12 of an hour, or 55 minutes.
