The diagram shows a scale drawing of a lacrose field. The diagram is 5 1/2 inches long and 3 inches wide. If 1 inch represents 20 yards, what is the area of the field

    First, find the area of the lacrosse field on the drawing. It is a rectangle, so you can just multiply the length and width:

    A=5.5*3

    A=16.5 in. squared

    If 1 inch represents 20 yards, then 1 inch squared is going to represent 400 yards squared for area. Now we can set up a ratio:

    16.5/x=1/400

    x=6,600 yards squared
