How do i do the quadratic formula

Quadratic formula is

x = - b + or - sqrt b^2-4ac / 2a

Just plug in your numbers ... let's say we have x^2 + 4x + 8 = 0

Plug it in.

x = - (-4) + / - sqrt (4) ^2 - 4 (1) (8) / 2 (1)

x = 4 + / - sqrt 16-32 / 2

x = 4 + / - sqrt - 16/2 (no real solutions)
