How do you solve

27=22-2 (3-1w)

    27 = 22 - 2 (3 - 1w) ... first, we distribute thru the parenthesis

    27 = 22 - 6 + 2w ... simplify

    27 = 16 + 2w ... now we subtract 16 from both sides

    27 - 16 = 2w

    11 = 2w ... now we divide both sides by 2

    11/2 (or 5 1/2) = w
