The larger square has area of 400 square inches. the areas of the two squares have a ratio of 1:4. what is the side lengh of the smaller square?

    Let A be Area, s sides

    A = s²

    (400) 1/4 = area of the smaller square.

    100=s²

    10²=s²

    s = 10, so the smaller side is 10 inches.
