If you write out all the numbers from 1 to 300, in how many numbers will there be an 8? (Note that 88 only counts as one number with an 8!)

    There is one 8 in each intervals: 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61-70, 71-79, 90-100, and ten numbers with 8 in 80-89.

    from 1-100, there are a total of nineteen 8's.

    So from 101-200, there will be nineteen as well. Same goes for 201-300.

    so,

    19*3=57

    There are fifty seven number with 8 from 1 to 300
