    To get x by itself on the opposite side of the equal side you would first have to subtract 0.8 from both sides.

    0.6x+0.8=14

    -0.8 = 14-0.8

    then you would cancel on the left side of the equal sign and simplify on the right

    0.6x=13.2

    then you would divide both sides by 0.6 to isolate your variable.

    0.6x/0.6=13.2/0.6

    then you would simplify.

    X = 22

    0.6x = 0.6

    Bring 0.8 to the other side of equals and subtract it from 1.4. 1.4 - 0.8 = 0.6

    x = 0.6/0.6

    0.6/0.6=1

    x = 1
