    Plug in 8 for x and - 3 for y in both equations, and see if it makes the equations true.

    First equation:

    7x + 4y = 44

    7 (8) + 4 (-3) = 44

    56 - 12 = 44

    44 = 44

    The ordered pair works in the first equation.

    Second equation:

    3x - y = 27

    3 (8) - (-3) = 27

    24 + 3 = 27

    27 = 27

    The ordered pair works in the second equation too.

    Since the ordered pair satisfies both equations, the ordered pair is a solution to the system of equations.
