A museum has a wax sculpture of a historical village. the scale is 1.5:8. if the height of he hut in the sculpture is 5 feet, how tall was the original hut to the nearest whole foot?

    For scale problems, you can use a proportion.

    1.5 sculpture size is to 8 real size as 5 ft sculpture size is to x real size.

    1.5/8 = (5 ft) / x)

    1.5x = 8 * 5 ft

    1.5x = 40 ft

    x = (40 ft) / 1.5

    x = 26.666 ... ft

    The original is 27 ft
