    Since this is a proportion we cross multiply.

    b+2/b-1=4/5

    b-1 (4) = b+2 (5)

    4b-4=5b+10

    +4 = + 4

    4b=5b+14

    -5b=-5b

    -1b=14

    divide by - 1 on both sides

    b=-14
