    There is a total of 50 students.

    One class has 6 more students than the other.

    x is the number of students in the smaller class.

    (x + 6) + x = 50

    2x + 6 = 50

    2x = 44

    x = 22

    The smaller class has 22 students.

    50 - 22 = 28

    The larger class has 28 students.
