A total of 762 students at the citywide competition are divided into six equal-sized teams. How many students are on each team? Show your work

    762/6=127. So you write it how you normally would; first, draw the straight bar, then, put 6 on the outside for the divisor and then put 762 inside for the divided and then divide. Since 6 can go into 7 once you put the 6 under the 7 and then subtract it which will leave you with one and 6 cannot go into one so bring down the 6 that was in the dividend and try to find the lcm for 16 and it is 12 so put 12 under the 16 and then subtract which will leave you with 4 and 6 cannot go into 4 so bring down the 2 in the dividend and the number becomes 42 then 6 can go into 42 7 times so put 127 at the top of the straight bar.

    127 because if you divide 762 by 6 you get 127 that means 127 students are on each team.
