    Surface area of a sphere = 4 pi r^2

    when r = 1/2 meter (because diameter = 2r = 1) the surface area

    = 4 * 3.14 * 0.5^2 = 3.14 square meters

    surface area = 4 x pi x r^2

    diameter = 1 so radius = 1/2 = 0.5

    4 x 3.14 x 0.5^2 = 3.14 meters^2
