    i think you mean discriminant in part A

    Δ=b^2-4ac=256-4*2*3=256-24=232

    it is positive so it has two answers.

    Part B

    you can find Δ

    Δ=b^2-4ac=9-4*9 * (-2) = 81

    x1=-3+9/18=6/18=1/3

    x2=-3-9/18=-12/18=-2/3
