    60% of the deer tagged were male ... 40% were female

    of the male deer, 20% were older then 4 1/2 years ... and 18 male deer were older then 4 1/2 years ...

    so 20% of the male deer tagged = 18

    0.2x = 18

    x = 18 / 0.2

    x = 90 ... so there were 90 male deer that were tagged

    thats means 60% of the total deer = 90

    0.6x = 90

    x = 90/0.6

    x = 150 < = = = so there were a total of 150 deer tagged (male and female)
