What is the vertex for the graph of f (x) = - 3 (x+5) ^2+7? Does the parabola open upward or downward why?

    The vertex would be (-5, 7).

    The parabola would open downwards because of the negative sign at the very beginning of the equation. If that negative sign wasn't there, it would open upwards.

    Don't think clever or anything. I just used a simple graphing calculator, and most classes encourage the use of these calculators.
