Since computers were invented, computational speed has multiplied by a factor of 4 about every three years. If a typical computer operates with a computational speed s today, write an expression for the speed at which you can expect an equivalent computer to operate after x three-year periods.

    Given that computational speed multiplies by a factor of 4 about every three years.

    For computational speed today = s

    Computational speed after 1 three-year period = s * 4 = s * 4^1

    Computational speed after 2 three-year periods = s * 4 * 4 = s * (4^2)

    Computational speed after 3 three-year periods = s * 4 * 4 * 4 = s * (4^3)

    Computational speed after x three-year periods = s * (4^x)
