    Put ur equation in y = mx + b form because the slope will be in the m position.

    5x + 3y + 12 = 0

    3y = - 5x - 12

    y = - 5/3x - 4

    y = mx + b

    y = - 5/3x + (-4) ... as u can see, the number in the m position (the slope) is - 5/3 <===
