    First, convert all of the fractions to decimals:

    2.5x -.75 (2x + 5) =.375

    Then distribute the parenthesis:

    2.5x - 1.5x + 3.75 =.375

    Subtract the 1.5x:

    1x + 3.75 =.375

    Subtract 3.75 from both sides:

    1x = - 3.375

    Convert back to fraction:

    1x = - 3 375/1000

    Simplify:

    X = - 3 3/8
