A fuel truck has two gas tanks, each with the capacity of 50 gallons. One of the tanks is half full, while the other is empty. Fuel is funneled into the tanks until both are full. The fuel is delivered at a constant rate of 3.5 gallons per minute.

a.) Write the equation for the total number of gallons of fuel, g, in the two tanks in terms of the time, t, in minutes that the pump has been filling the tanks.

b.) How much fuel is in the tanks after 5 minutes?

c.) How much fuel is in the tanks after 8 minutes?

d.) How long must the truck wait for both fuel tanks to be full?

    A) g = 3.5t + 25

    b) g = 3.5 (5) + 25 = 42.5

    c) g = 3.5 (8) + 25 = 53

    d) 100 = 3.5t + 25

    75 = 3.5t

    t = 21.4
