A company sells cereal in two different - sized boxes. The smaller box has the dimensions of 12-inch, 2-inch and 7 3/4 i. The height of the smaller box is 80% of the height of the lager box, while the other two dimensions are the same for both boxes. What is the difference in the volumes of the two boxes?

    We will take the volume of each box separately to find the difference between them.

    We have then that the volume of the boxes is:

    V = (L) * (W) * (h)

    Where,

    L: long

    W: width

    h: height

    The smaller box:

    V1 = (12) * (2) * (7 3/4)

    V1 = 186 in ^ 3

    the lager box:

    V2 = (12) * (2) * ((7 3/4) * (100/80))

    V2 = 232.5 in ^ 3

    The difference is:

    V2-V1 = 232.5 in ^ 3 - 186 in ^ 3 = 46.5 in ^ 3
