    The equation for Zimbabwe's growth would be:

    4x+1=12.6

    Solve for x.

    4x+1=12.6

    Subtract 1 from both sides.

    (4x+1) - 1 = (12.6) - 1

    4x=11.6

    Divide both sides by 4.

    (4x) / 4 = (11.6) / 4

    x=2.9

    The approximate population of Zimbabwe in 1950 was 2.9 million.
