    So the 8 dollars to enter the fair is a flat rate that everyone has to pay no matter how many rides they ride. so this would just become + 8. the 3 dollars per ride becomes dependent on how many rides you ride. so if you rode 3 it would be 3 (3) + 8. where as if you rode 4 it would be 3 (4) + 8. so the equation becomes y = 3x + 8, where y is the total amount of money you spend and x is the number of rides you ride.
