A basket of fruit contains 4 apples 6 bananas 6 oranges and 10 kiwi fruits A piece of fruit is chosen at random. Find the probability of each event. Write each probability 3 ways. An orange is picked An apple or a banana is picked. A grape is picked.

    Orange: 3:13, 3 to 13, 3/13

    Apple: 2:13, 2 to 13, 2/13

    Banana: 3:13, 3 to 13, 3/13

    Grape: 0:26, 0 to 26, 0/26 - there are no grapes in the fruit basket

    Well first we need to see how much fruit there is. 4+6+6+10 = 26; so here are the chances for each: 4/26, 6/26, 6/26, 10/26. So now lets look at the questions themselves. " An orange is picked" There were 6 oranges, 6/26 chances (3/13 if they want simplified). " An apple or a banana is picked" 4a+6b=10fruits/26total; 10/26 (5/13 for simplified). " A grape is picked" Well, theres no grapes right? so 0/26 chance. So out of your three questions heres your answers rounded to the nearest percentages:

    Orange: 23%

    Apple/banana: 38%

    Grape: 0%
