Koko and John are simplifying the expression 5x - 4 + x + 2

Koko 5x - 4 + x + 2 = 6x - 2

John 5x - 4 + x + 2 = 5x - 2

Who is correct and why?

    Koko got the correct ans

    as u can rewrite the question

    5x-4+x+2 to 5x+x-4+2

    u can see 5x and x are like terms, so u can add them tgt to be 6x and for constants - 4+2, u will get - 2, so the ans is 6x-2
