What value of x makes the equation true?

1.4x + 2.6x = - 16

A. x = - 4

    1.4x+2.6x = - 16

    4x = - 16

    x = - 16/4 = - 4

    x = - 4

    A is the answer

    Remember, you can do anything to an equation as long as you do it to both sides

    just add them decimals

    1.4+2.6=4 so

    1.4x+2.6x=-16

    4x=-16

    divde both sides by 4

    x=-4

    answer is A
