The math club is doing a fundraiser to raise money to attend a math competition. The club was told by their advisor to raise $2000, but they decided to raise $4000. The club is selling " I like TT" T-shirts for $10 and "i like TT" sweaters for $20. let x equal the number of T-shirts sold and let y equal the number of sweatshirts sold.

Write a linear equation to represent raising $4000

    For the answer tot he question above, let the number of t-shirts are represented by 't'

    number of sweaters are represented by 's'

    cost of 1t=10 and cost of 1s=20 so

    10t+20s=2000 or (factor out the 10 if you want to simplify)

    10 (t+2s) = 10 (200)

    divide both sides by 2

    t+2s=200
