The sum of three consecutive even numbers is 78, what is the first number

    So, here is how I do it. I take the big number (78) and divide it by the amount of numbers (3). 78/3=26. The answer you get from that is the middle number. Then I take the number before it and the number after it (25 and 27). These are your first and last numbers. 25 is the first number

    Hi there, n + (n+2) + (n+4) = 78, n+n+2+n+4=78, 3n+6=78, 3n=78-6, 78-6=72 so, 3n=72, divide both sides by 3 and we get n=72/3, 72 divided by 3 equals 24. So, the first number is 24.
