If a rectangle measures 15 inches by 1 3/4 feet, what is the perimeter in yards?

    The perimeter is solved by using the formula:

    P = 2 l + 2 w

    where l is the length of one side = 15 inches, and w is width of one side = 1 ¾ ft = 21 inches

    P = 2 (15 inches) + 2 (21 inches)

    P = 72 inches

    We know that there are 36 inches in 1 yard therefore:

    P = 72 inches * (1 yard / 36 inches)

    P = 2 yards
