    3x + 15 - 2 = 3 (x + 5) - 2 ... distribute : distribution property

    3x + 13 = 3x + 15 - 2 ... simplify

    3x + 13 = 3x + 13 ... subtract 3x from both sides : subtraction property

    3x - 3x + 13 = 3x - 3x + 13

    13 = 13 (correct) ... infinite solutions

    check ... x = 2

    3 (2) + 15 - 2 = 3 (2 + 5) - 2

    6 + 13 = 6 + 15 - 2

    19 = 21 - 2

    19 = 19 (correct)
