Mary purchased 4 tires by mail order. She paid $63.40 per tire plus $6.80 per tire for shipping and handling. There is no sales tax, because the tires were purchased out of state. She also had to pay $7.56 per tire for mounting and balancing. At a local store, Mary's total for the 4 tires with mounting and balancing would be $368 plus 88 % sales tax. How much did Mary save by purchasing the tires through the mail?

    Mail : 4 (63.40 + 6.80 + 7.56) = 4 (77.76) = 311.04

    the store : 368 (1.88) = 691.84

    so Mary saved (691.84 - 311.04) = 380.80 <==

    The answer I got was $380.80 for the total amount that she saved. I did $63.40 times 4, $6.80 times 4, and $7.56 times 4. Then I added the numbers and subtracted the result from $368 plus the 88% sales tax.
