A baby elephant weighs 1400 pounds, which is 7,437 pounds less than her mother. Write an equations to express the weight of the mother.

    1400+7437 = weight of mother

    Why?

    If the baby weighs 1400

    And that is 7437 less than the mother,

    simply add the two weights

    The weight of the mother is 8837

    And the equation is 1400+7437=x
