Last week, Mr. Thomas rode his bike 49 miles. This week, Mr. Thomas rode his bike 14 miles less than he did last week. Part A. Mr. Thomas rode the same distance each of the 7 days this week. Write an equation to find the number of miles, m, he rode each day. Part B. How many miles did Mr. Thomas ride each day? Part C. Mr. Thomas says his goal is to ride a total of 125 miles by the end of next week. He estimates that he needs to ride about 40 miles next week to meet his goal. Is his estimate reasonable? Explain why or why not.

    49-14 = 35

    35/7 = 5

    Part B

    5 miles each day

    Part C

    49+35 = 84

    84+40 = 124, which is a good estimate and it is reasonable
