    Do distributive property to get rid of the parenthesis

    3x + 3 = - 2x + 2 + 6

    combine like terms

    3x + 3 = - 2x + 8

    move the - 2x over by addition

    5x + 3 = 8

    move the 3 over by subtraction

    5x = 5

    now divide by 5

    x = 1
