Bill and Jenna are solving the quadratic equation x 2 - x = 12. Bill solved this way Jenna solved this way x 2 - x = 12 x (x - 1) = 12 x = 12 or 13 x 2 - x = 12 x 2 - x - 12 = 0 (x - 4) (x + 3) = 0 x = 4 or x = - 3 Which student is correct? What error did the other student make when solving?

I'm assuming the 0s are negative signs.

Anyway, Jenna did the correct way to solve it. Bill didn't solve the quadratic equation correctly because he didn't proceed to solving for the zeros of the equation - which Jenna did.
