    42,42,24,36,60,6

    1st Find the mean X̅ = (42+42+24+36+60+6) / 6 = 35

2nd find the difference between the data set value and the mean (x - X̅)

    and square them:

    (42-35) ² = 49

    (42-35) ² = 49

    (24-35) ² = 121

    (36-35) ² = 1

    (60-35) ² = 625

    (6-35) ² = 814

    Now add up te result ∑ (x-X̅) ² = 1659
