    (-7x - 8y = 9) - 4

    (-4 * + 9y = - 22) 7

    28x - 32y = - 36

    -28x + 63y = - 154 ... add the equations

    together

    0 + 31y = - 190

    y = - 190/31

    y = - 6.1

    -7x - 8y = 9

    -7x - 8 (-6.1) = 9

    -7x + 48.8 = 9

    -7x = 9 - 48.8

    -7x = - 39.8

    x = - 39.8/-7

    x = 5.6

    The solution = (5.6, - 6.1)
