A rhombus is a special type of quadrilateral in which all its four sides are congruent (equal in measure); also, a rhombus always have two pairs of parallel lines, so it is also a parallelogram. In addition, a rhombus with right angles is a square. However, since all the sides of a rhombus are equal it cannot be a rectangle - a figure with 4 congruent angles but only two pair of congruent sides-.

We can conclude that a rhombus can always be classified as a square, parallelogram, or quadrilateral.
