Sergio made a whole pan of lasagna. His friends ate some of the lasagna. There was 1/3 of the pan of lasagna left. Sergio said his friends ate 5/6 of the lasagna.

Is Sergio's answer reasonable?

A. No, it is not reasonable because 1/3 x 5/6 = 5/18

B. No, it is not reasonable because 1 - 1/3 = 2/3

C. Yes, it is reasonable because 1/3 + 1/2 = 5/6

    The answer is B. 1/3 is equal to 2/6. If 2/6 of the pan of lasagna was left, his friends could not have eaten 5/6. They would have had to have eaten 4/6, which is the same as 2/3.
