Factor k2 - 17k + 16.

(k - 1) (k + 16)

    The factorised form of k2 - 17 k + 16

    = the third one ...

    (k-1) (k-16)

    because the two numbers in the brackets, - 1 and - 16, must add to give the middle number of the quadratic, - 17, and must multiply to give the integer on the right, 16,
