Solve the equation using square roots. x^2 - 14 = - 10

    X^2 - 14 = - 10

    x^2 = - 10 + 14

    x^2 = 4 ... take the square root of both sides, eliminating the ^2

    x = (+-) sqrt 4

    x = 2 and x = - 2
