Who are the Cherokee

The Cherokee were Native Americans living in the Southeastern Woodlands. They speak their own languages, mainly Cherokee and English. Near the 19th century, European settlers in the United States classified the Cherokee as one of the most civilized because they lived in permanent villages and began to adopt some cultural and technological practices of the European American settlers.
