The communicative property states that with addition and multiplication, order does not matter. Examples:

    a + b = b + a

    a * b = b * a

    a + b + c + d = c + b + d + a = b + a + c + d

Distributive states that you can distribute a number multiplyed by 2

    a * (b + c) = a * b + a * c
