If the difference between the weight of her bag and the weight limit is x, the flight home charge is 20+8x and the flight back is 26+5x. These are equal: 20+8x=26+5x, so 3x=6 and x=2 lb, therefore the baggage fee home was 2*8=$16 and to college was 2*5=$10. The bag was 2lb over the weight limit and the fees were $16 and $10.
