    -2x + 5y = 13

    16x + 3y = 25

    To solve this you have to cancel the x first so you multiply the first equation by 8

    -2x + 5y = 13. All of that times 8

    -16x + 40y = 104

    Now that you have this you can cancel x

    -16x + 40y = 104

    16x. +. 3y. = 25

    X cancel

    40y = 104

    3y. = 25

    You add the y and the numbers

    43y = 129

    /43. / 43

    Y = 3

    Now you plug y in one of the equations

    16x + 3y = 25

    16x. + 3 (3) = 25

    16x + 9 = 25

    -9. - 9

    16x = 16

    /16. / 16

    X = 1

    Y = 3 and X = 1

    -2x+5y=13

    -5 - 5

    =8

    -2 (negative two)

    -2 / 8 = ?
