A town has accumulated 22 inches of snow, and the snow depth is increasing by 66 inches every hour. A nearby town has accumulated 66 inches, and the depth is increasing by 33 inches every hour. In about how many hours will the snowfall of the towns be equal?

    Create an expression. Solve for x

    22+66x=66+33x

    Subtract 33x from both sides

    22+33x=66

    Subtract 22 from both sides

    33x=44

    Divide both sides by 33

    x=44/33=4/3 or 1.3 hours
