The troop hiked to the end of the trail and back. If the trail was three and a half miles long how far did the troop hike

    The troop hiked 7 miles. I got this by adding 3 1/2 plus 3 1/2 to get seven miles. It works because you have to add the amount of miles twice for the first time and then to return.
